water and stone

water: ocean
i could feel the atlantic ocean off the coast of ireland as the plane approached ireland on my fight over. having spent the majority of my time in the west during this visit, i found myself feeling the presence of the selkies, the sprits and beings of the salted waters. whether i was on land or in and on the sea, my songs and my prayers to the ocean were constant.

stones
stones are earthen siblings of mine- unlocking wolds, memories, stories, and souls. i witnessed the ways that the stones in ireland define space and time, prayers and practices. these stones were balanced, formed, errored, and stood alone as witness to a linage and a time i recognized and so too did my maternal ancestors. they understood the stone languages and linage- and i want to understand this stone languages and linage too.

water: wells
this pilgrimage brought me to six different wells in three places in ireland. i visited two wells in the burren, two wells on inis mor and two in kildare. it was important for me to return to the st. brigid well in kildare where my ode to st. brigid was transmitted to me. when i arrived to the well to do my rounds i met three other women, also devotees to brigid. i sang my ode as i made my rounds and joined them in a cocao ceremony when my prayers were done.
