my sacred steps and interweaving pilgrimage: fall 2026
this fall i will be deepening my kinship with my ancestors in ireland who share the atlantic ocan with my other ancestors to deepen my relationship and understanding of cessaire, the first woman and goddess of ireland though guided and solo pilgrimage. my pilgrimage with gereldine ahern’s sacred steps ancestral pilgrimage wiill begin my time in ireland this fall and be a step towards studying her caoin method. a study i intend to take up in 2027.

about us: me, my ancestors and descendants
i am the decent of black indigenous africans who were enslaved in the united states, of nipmuc people of natick in the eastern woodlands of turtle island whose lands were absconded and we slave traded , and irish and northern european indigenous immigrants.
i am deeply indigenous.
my blood lineage is linked by one water: the atlantic ocean.
water is life. and for me, my ancestors and my descendants, healing and weaving the wisdoms of all of my ancestral linages in ireland is what i am embarking on. this ancestral work will continue this fall as ireland is in my future.
deepening my journey with geraldine
i met gereldine in a last winter offering online guided by sionnáin, a water woman in west clare. i met, and had time with, sionnáin in the fall of 2024 when i returned to my heart home of sharing sound, water and their ritual and embodied mythology. in the fall of 2025, during my sabbatical in west clare, one of my prayers was to meet elders who were deep in the embodied ancestral ritual and practice of western ireland. gereldine was one of the elders that i was introduced to during our winter with sionnáin and the cailleach.
over the summer, gereldine and i met on a video call to connecting and discernment conversation about this retreat. i learned more about her grief and rebirthing work she does in the west of ireland in kerry and so much more. in that conversation two things became clear to me: she had something particular in her offering and guidance though the "wisdom of the darkness" in her deep practice, methods, experience and wisdom of the landscape in the west. the other things that was clarified for me is that i want to pilgrimage place in ireland where is said that cessair of ireland first arrived. cessair came to ireland from northern africa and is the first goddess of ireland ( more about cessaire: bard mythology and herstory-ie )
my pilgrimage and how you can support
my pilgrimage will be both guided and solo. i will be on this journey from 27 october to 9 november 2026. i am raising $6,000 for the following cost of the pilgrimage, travel, meals and a few days of interweaving the water and the land in ireland:
